If the opposable thumb is what lifted Man from rooting for grubs and tubers, imagine what you can do with three of them. The Singlebarbed.com "Sixth Finger" scissor is the culmination of decades of frustration, false starts, and scribbled notes on crumpled napkins. Inventor Keith Barton says: "Like many of you I hunted for scissors in the mounds of materials cluttering my table and the ever-present debris pile at the vice's base, and was always surprised how far such a crucial tool could move between uses." Having the scissors locked in the palm — and absent bulky fingerholes — allows the fingers to flex naturally, assisting the tyer in positioning materials without causing the hand unnecessary strain. The extra large fingerhole allows the scissor more movement on the index finger. Simply tilting the fingertips downward allows the scissors to drop into the cutting position. With precision scissors in-hand most tiers will trim precious seconds off of each stage of fly construction, speeding their output measurably. Designed as a utilitarian fine point scissor and best used for the precision cuts needed on the fly, rather than cutting heavy materials like bead chain eyes or heavy gauge wire. Constructed of surgical stainless steel, your "Sixth Finger" should provide many years of efficient service. |
