"Bass: The Movie," which records a year-long catching contest between fly casters and hardware slingers who just can't get enough of largemouth bass fishing, is just out on DVD.
The one-hour-and-forty-minute DVD is something of a departure for Jamie Howard, whose previous films were anchored in tarpon fishing culture. This time we're on the west coast, in the California delta and southern lakes -- not locations that spring immediately to mind when one thinks of "bass country," but a spot that those in the know say could produce the new largemouth world records. The film features bass pro Bobby Barrack in the California Delta or fly rod world-record holder Larry Kurosaki in southern California doing what they do best -- hooking big surface feeding fish.
