The overseas landing of a largemouth bass that may have tied the current George Perry world record got Tom Stienstra thinking about the likelihood that the next monster fish will be caught in California. According to Dan Bacher, editor of the Fish Sniffer, "'We have Florida-strain bass that get huge, trout plants for food, and a mild climate for a long growing season.'" In other words, the record fish will be a giant pre-spawn female that's just swallowed a five pound trout. In which case I do hope it is a kid. In the San Francisco Chronicle.
