Guide John Berry suggests a few preparations for fishing dry flies on his native Arkansas waters, but they could apply to any situation requiring small dry flies. Clean you fly line, change your leader material, be sure you have an adequate selection of both hatch-matching and generic flies, and leave the fluorocarbon to later season when the bugs are bigger. "Fluorocarbon has a greater specific gravity than water and will therefore sink. This will increase drag and could interfere with the drag free drift. Stick to monofilament for dry flies."
