"A Secret River Has No Friends"

Amidst plenty of recent articles on the arguments over stream access vs. stream conversation, we stumbled across a cogent and insightful piece by Dennis Anderson in the Minneapolis - St. Paul Star Tribune. Anderson argues that while deciding which side of the water privitization debate to come down on, we may be missing a more fundamental obligation: to recruit anglers who learn to understand how important the resources are. "For today's cold-water angler to become too mired in a stream access debate that conveniently touches all-too-familiar hot buttons -- rich vs. poor, for example -- is to forsake a greater obligation to do what's necessary to sustain angling. Thereby sustaining clean water. And fish."

And maybe this is how it starts.
