Once an enormous nuisance for northwestern New York residents, then lost -- likely to the effects of pollution or viral infections -- mayflies are showing signs of returning to places like Oneida Lake, where scientists are finding them in the stomachs of a small percentage of fish. "Cornell University scientists found several larvae of large species of mayflies, often called "eelflies" by locals, in walleye stomachs.
