Dennis Anderson visits author, angler and cutting horse man Tom McGuane in Big Timber and on the Boulder River. "On his horse, Tom was helping another cutter. This was a long way from Los Angeles, where he once wrote for the movies, and about the same distance from New York, from which delicately constructed reviews of his book will soon appear, some from writers who know well enough where Montana is.
