I'm not sure why it's so rare to see an accomplished fly fishing instructor write a brief guide to getting started in fly fishing. Maybe there's the desire to keep something sacred a secret, or save it for the next book. Or maybe it just requires Haiku-like precision in writing. Anyway, this article by Ken Allen does as good a job as any I have read in explaining how to get started in fly fishing in less than a thousand words.
