Gene Mueller writes about the importance of menhaden to Chesapeake Bay gamefish populations and the huge impact of their removal by netters. "As you might know, the Chesapeake's menhaden are netted into oblivion by the netters, all in the name of making certain oils, fish meal, cosmetics, medicines, etc., but nothing that couldn't be manufactured from other, less threatened sources."
